Objective:To understand the physical growth of children under 7 years old in Yu zhong district of Chongqing

providing the basis for further improve the level of children’s growth and development. Methods :Based on surveys conducted in August 2008 to June 2009 in in Yu Zhong district of Chongqing

251 cases of childrens under 7 years of age whose physical examination data were collected and made a descriptive analysis

and compared them with the nine municipalities in China in 2005 standards and WHO standards

evaluating the physical growth of children. Results:Physical growth of boys and girls met the physical growth patterns

the growth status of boys better than girls. The weight of boy and girls under 1 year of age were lower than the nine city in 2005

but after 1 years of age close to the standard.The height of boys and girls of all ages were lower than the 2005 China city standards and WHO standards ;Head circumference was not very different from the standard.In children under 3 years

the overall incidence of underweight was about 1.52%

growth retardation 1.73%

0.13%waisting

overweitht 7.65%. Conclusion:The height of children in Yu Zhong district of Chongqing are at a low level

high incidence ofoverweight is required totake earlyintervention measures.
