Objective To explore the application value of family cognitive interaction model in the continuing care for children with Kawasaki disease. Methods Sixty-four cases of children with Kawasaki disease admitted to a hospital in Henan from September 2019 to October 2020 were selected and divided into observation and control groups using the random number table method
with 32 cases in each group. The children in the control group were given conventional continuing care
and the children in the observation group received family cognitive interaction model intervention on the basis of the control group. The treatment compliance
family health knowledge
recovery and complications of the children in the two groups were compared. Results The compliance rate of children in the observation group was 96.88%(31/32)
which was higher than that of the control group at 81.25%(26/32)
but the difference was not statistically significant(χ~2=2.566
P=0.109). The health knowledge mastery scores of the families of children in the two groups were higher after the intervention and higher in the observation group than in the control group
with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). The fever resolution time and hospitalization time of the children in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group
and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). The complication rate of children in the observation group was 9.38%(3/32)
which was lower than that of 18.75%(6/32) in the control group
but the difference was not statistically significant(χ~2=0.517
P=0.472). Conclusion The family cognitive interaction model used in the continuing care of children with Kawasaki disease can improve the children’s compliance
