Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of rheumatoid arthritis(RA)complicated with cardiovascular disease(CVD)as well as its influencing factors
which may provide theoretical evidence for the development of relevant preventative and control measures. Methods A total of 100 patients with RA who were treated at a Zunyi hospital during the period from January 2016 to December 2017 were included in this study. These patients were divided into the RA alone group(n=50)and RA plus CVD group(n=50).The specific type of CVD and echocardiographic findings in the RA plus CVD group were analyzed
and then the influencing factors of RA complicated with CVD were assessed. Results In the RA plus CVD group
the most common CVD was hypertension
accounting for 64.00%;and the most common echocardiographic finding was mitral regurgitation
accounting for 62.00%.The gender composition
positive rate of antinuclear antibody(ANA)
age
Body Mass Index(BMI)
Health Assessment Questionnaire(HAQ)score
anti-CCP level and fasting plasma glucose(FPG)were comparable between the two groups(P>0.05).Patients in the RA plus CVD group tended to be diagnosed at a significantly younger age and had a significantly longer duration of disease compared with the RA alone group(both P<0.05).The disease activity score at 28 joints abstract objective(DAS-28 score)
rheumatoid factor(RF)
C-reactive protein(CRP)and total cholesterol(TC)levels were significantly higher in the RA plus CVD group than those in the RA alone group(P<0.05).The Logistic multiple regression analysis showed that
RF
CRP and TC levels were influencing factors of RA complicated with CVD(P<0.05).Conclusion Higher RF
CRP and TC levels are associated with an increase risk of CVD in patients with RA.Therefore
it is important to strengthen screening in clinical practice
which may allow for early detection and effective intervention of CVD and thereby help to improve patient prognosis.
