Objective To investigate the effect of Am1000A(dual channel)electromyographic biofeedback(EMGBF)technology combined with conventional rehabilitation therapy on the recovery of dorsiflexion function in stroke patients. Methods 60 cases of patients matched with the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into a study group and a control group
30 cases in each group. The control group were treated with conventional rehabilitation therapy for 8weeks;the study group were treated with conventional rehabilitation therapy and EMGBF technology for 8weeks.Patients were measured active range of motion(AROM)of their ankle dorsiflexion and the integrated electromyographic(iEMG)value of tibialis anterior muscle isometric contraction within the maximum ankle dorsiflexion before and after their treatment and the improvement of their foot dorsiflexion and the movement function of lower limbs were evaluated with Berg Balance Scale(BBS)
Simple Fugl-Meyer lower limb movement function rating scale and modified Ashworth evaluation scale. Results Before the treatment
there were no statistically significant differences in AROM
iEMG value
BBS and Fugl-Meyer lower limb movement function rating scale of patients in both groups
but all these data of the two groups showed significant improvement after the treatment
and the differences between before and after the treatment were statistically significant(P<0.05)
and the study group had better improvement than the control group and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Before the treatment
stage-I patients in the control group accounted for 40.00% and stage-I patients in the study group accounted for 23.33%.After the treatment
the results of modified Ashworth evaluation scale in both groups were better than before the treatment and the proportion of stage-I patients increased
63.33% of the control group and 53.33% of study group. Conclusion The conventional rehabilitation therapy combined with electromyographic biofeedback technology can improve their dorsiflexion function of stroke patients and effectively enhance their movement function of lower limbs in patients with hemiplegia.
