Objective To explore the long-term and short-term curative effect and clinical presentation of Micro Endo Disc System（MED）in the treatment of multiple segment lumbar stenosis.Methods Eighty two of the patients who required surgery for multiple segment lumbar stenosis from Feb.2011 to Feb.2013 were selected and randomly divided into 2groups with 41 cases for each group.The control group underwent surgical treatment

main symptoms and Oswestry Disability Index（ODI）of the two groups.Results The total effective rate of treatment group was 94.56%

which was much higher than that of control group（80.49%）.This difference was significant（P<0.05）.The operative time

hospital stay and recovery time for treatment group were（61.26±12.64）min

（11.22±2.76）d and（20.18±4.08）d respectively

and all of them were shorter than those of control group.The differences were significant（P<0.05）and remained so when considering the amount of bleeding during operation for treatment group（152.06±16.97）mL.Symptom scores and ODI of treatment group after 6months of surgery were lower than those of control group concerning low back and leg pain

charcot′s syndrome and lower extremity numbness.The differences were significant（P<0.05）.ODI of treatment group after 24 months of operation was lower than that of control group with statistically significant difference（P<0.05）

and symptom scores of low back and leg pain

charcot’s syndrome and lower extremity numbness went the same

but their differences were insignificant.No patient in treatment group suffered recurrence within 2years（recurrence rate of 0.00%）

while the ratio of control group was 4.88%.The difference was insignificant.The incidence of complication of treatment group was 2.44%

which was lower than that of control group（12.20%）.This difference was significant（P<0.05）.Conclusion The curative effect of Micro Endo Disc System（MED）in the treatment of multiple segment lumbar stenosis is significant

manifesting in relieving symptoms of low back and leg pain

charcot′s syndrome and lower extremity numbness.
