distribution characteristics and prevention measures of metabolic syndrome(MS) in the group receiving physical examination.Method 56 600 examinees received physical examination in our center over the recent 3 years and the detection results of their body mass index(BMI)
blood pressure
blood lipid and blood sugar were statistically analyzed.According to the diagnostic criteria proposed by CDS in 2004
the detection rates of MS were calculated. Results The detection rate of MS of examinees in our center over the recent 3 years was 15.5%.And it was 12.1% in 2008
16.0% in 2009 and 17.4% in 2010;as for occupational distribution
the retired people had the highest detection rate
followed by staff members
civil servants
teachers
workers and farmers
in turn;the detection rates of MS in male and female were 18.4% and 11.6% respectively
and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).Conclusion The detection rate of MS among examinees is high and it grows year by year. The detection rate of MS of male is higher than that of female. This should be highlighted so as to take practical and effective prevention measures to stop its fast growing tendency.
