Objective To research on the influence of the related factors of metabolic syndrome(MS) on the outcome of type 2 diabetes in 2 years among the group of non-diabetic teachers.Method A two-year follow-up study had been conducted among 688 non-diabetic teachers of Inner Mongolia Agricultural University since the 2006 physical check-up
testing and measuring blood glucose
blood lipid
blood pressure(BP)
body height
weight and waist. The outcomes were compared and analyzed. Results The results of BMI、WC、 SBP、DBP、FPG、2hPG、TG、TC and HDL-C2 years ago of the group of people whose glucose regulation has remained normal or become impaired 2 yeas later were much lower than those of the group who had become diabetic 2 years later. The difference had a statistical significance(P< 0.05);The rate of non-diabetic subjects becoming diabetic 2 years later was 5.4%
among them the rate of the MS group was higher than that of the NMS group and the rate of IGT and IFG group was higher than that of the NGR group
this difference also had a statistical significance(P<0.01).Conclusion The related factors of metabolic syndrome increases the risk of diabetes
among them
body weight and blood glucose level are the most important factors which can affect the clinical outcomes of metabolic syndrome.
