Objective To discuss the sickness and the relevant instances caused by the hay fever of Artemisia pollen. Method By intradermal test of inhaling allergens and detection of specific IgE in vitro 62 cases who were allergic to pollen were investigated from June 1997 to July 2004. Results The average age of the subjects who were diagnosed as hay fever in 62 cases is 49.9-year-old. The shortest history of the hay fever is 2 years
and the longest is over 50 years. In 62 cases 98.2 % of the subjects (61 cases) have a symptom of coryza
64.1 % of the subjects (41 cases) have a symptom on the eye
ear
maxilla and throat; and 37.1 % of the subjects (23 cases) have a symptom of asthma. Conclusion Hay fever is one of the main causes of bronchial asthma. More attention should be pain to hay fever so as to decrease the incidence of asthma and therefore to promote the quality of life.
