Research advances in the organ-protective effect of liraglutide[J]. Journal of Southwest Medical University, 2022,45(2):157-160. DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.2096-3351.2022.02.014.
Liraglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 analogue which is mainly used to control blood glucose in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and combination with liraglutide can be considered for diabetic patients with poor control after treatment with metformin or sulfonylurea alone. Clinical studies have shown that while reducing blood glucose, liraglutide can also exert varying de-grees of protective effect against organ injuries caused by diabetes or non-diabetes factors. In order to further explore the protective role of liraglutide against organ injury, this article reviews the organ-protective effect and mechanism of liraglutide from the five aspects of the brain, liver, heart, lung, and kidney.
