Study of regulated cell death and its mechanism[J]. Journal of Southwest Medical University, 2021,44(5):511-519. DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.2096-3351.2021.05.014.
Cell death is a fundamental physiological process in living organisms, ranging from embryonic de⁃velopment, organ maintenance, and aging to immune responses and autoimmune coordination;it involves various forms of death which include both accidental cell death(ACD)and regulated cell death(RCD). An increasing num⁃ber of new non-apoptotic forms of cell death have been identified and named variants of RCD,heralding the continu⁃ous expansion of this field and the emergence of new mechanisms to coordinate multiple cell death pathways. We ex⁃plored more about the complexities of cellular regulatory pathways that culminated in different forms of cell death, summarized an updated classification of cell death subroutines, elaborated on the mechanisms of action and applica⁃tions, and highlighted common and unique pathways and their effects on surrounding cells and the whole organism.
