Objective To investigate the effect of esculin and digitalis glycosides eye drops as the adjuvant therapy for macular edema after cataract surgery. Methods A total of 100 patients（100 eyes）with macular edema after cataract surgery who were diagnosed and treated in the Central Hospital of Nanchong from October 2018 to Oc⁃tober 2020 were enrolled and divided into observation group and control group，with 50 patients in each group. The patients in the control group were given conventional anti-inflammatory treatment after cataract surgery，while those in the observation group were given conventional anti-inflammatory treatment combined with esculin and digitalis glycosides eye drops. Visual acuity examination and optical coherence tomography were performed before surgery and at 1 and 6 months after surgery to analyze the recovery of best corrected visual acuity and macular edema. Re-sults There was no significant difference in best corrected visual acuity between the two groups before surgery（P>0.05），while at 1 and 6 months after surgery，the observation group had a significantly better best corrected visual acuity than the control group（P<0.05）. There was no significant difference in central foveal thickness between the two groups before surgery（P>0.05），while at 1 and 6 months after surgery，the observation group had significantly better conditions of macular edema than the control group（P<0.01）. Conclusion For patients with macular ede⁃ma after cataract surgery，adjuvant therapy with esculin and digitalis glycosides eye drops can effectively alleviate macular edema and improve visual acuity.
