OBJECTIVE: To improve the stability data for the compatibility of esomeprazole with somatostatin
so as to provide theoretical support for the rational clinical application. METHODS: Literature related to the stability of compatibility of esomeprazole with somatostatin were retrieved from CNKI
Wanfang Data and PubMed. The basic experimental study on the compatibility of two drugs was conducted based on the real scenario of clinical application. RESULTS: A total of 7 papers related to the extracorporal compatibility of the two drugs were enrolled
which suggested that color change or precipitation can occur in the compatibility of esomeprazole with somatostatin and other drugs. Results of basic experimental light inspection showed that crystals appeared in the compatibility solution at 1 h and the particles were visible to naked eye at 4 h. CONCLUSIONS: The difference of pH between esomeprazole and somatostatin is large
so that there are incompatibilities. To ensure the safety of intravenous drug administration
it is not advisable to share a single intravenous access for continuous pumping
and it is recommended to apply separately or share the intravenous access with other drugs.
