OBJECTIVE: To probe into the efficacy of Shiwei Yuquan tablets combined with guidone in the treatment of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with deficiency of Qi and Yin
and its effects on glycolipid metabolism
insulin resistance and serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25( OH) D]
transforming growth factor-β1( TGF-β1) and matrix metalloproteinase( MMPs). METHODS: Totally 146 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with deficiency of Qi and Yin admitted into Beijing Tongzhou District Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine from Jan. 2018 to Sept. 2019 were divided into two groups via the random number table. Totally 73 patients in the control group were treated with gliquidone
and 73 patients in the treatment group received Shiwei Yuquan tablets combined with gliquidone
and two groups were treated for 3 months. The clinical efficacy
TCM syndrome scores
glycolipid metabolism
insulin resistance and serum 25( OH) D
TGF-β1 and MMPs levels before and after treatment of two groups were compared. The incidence of adverse drug reactions were statistically analyzed. RESULTS: The total effective rate in the treatment group was 91. 78%( 67/73)
significantly higher than that in the control group 76. 71%( 56/73)
with statistically significant difference( P < 0. 05). Compared with before treatment
the TCM syndrome scores in both groups decreased significantly after treatment
and the treatment group was significantly lower than the control group
with statistically significant differences( P < 0. 05).Glucolipid metabolic indicators [fasting blood glucose( FBG)
2 h postprandial blood glucose( 2 hBG)
glycosylated hemoglobin( HbA1 c)
cholesterol( TC) and triglyceride( TG) ]
insulin resistance [fasting insulin( FINS)
insulin resistance index( HOMA-IR) ]level decreased significantly in both groups after treatment
the FBG
2 hBG
HbA1 c
TC
TG
FINS and HOMA-IR level in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group
with statistically significant differences( P < 0. 05). Compared with before treatment
the serum 25( OH) D level increased significantly after treatment in both groups
while the serum TGF-β1 and MMPs levels decreased significantly. Meanwhile
the serum 25( OH) D level in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group
and the serum TGF-β1 and MMPs levels were significantly lower than those in the control group
with statistically significant differences( P < 0. 05). There were no obvious adverse drug reactions in both groups during treatment. CONCLUSIONS: Shiwei Yuquan tablets combined with gliquidone in the treatment of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with deficiency of Qi and Yin can significant regulate the glycolipid metabolism
