OBJECTIVE: To probe into the effects of Huoxue Sanjie prescription on serum levels of IL-1β

IL-6 and TNF-α in patients with nodular goiter. METHODS: A total of 40 patients with nodular goiter admitted to Hubei Provincial Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine from Mar. 2019 to Jun. 2019 were selected as the case group（ received Huoxue Sanjie prescription

with 90 d for one course of treatment

totally 2 courses of treatment）. Meanwhile

40 healthy people who came to the hospital for physical examination were randomly selected as the control group. The therapeutic effects of Huoxue Sanjie prescription were observed

the serum levels of IL-1β

IL-6

and TNF-α of patients with nodular goiter were observed before treatment

and after treatment of 90 d and 180 d were observed and compared with the control group. RESULTS: After treatment

the levels of FT3 and FT4 in the case group were higher than those before treatment

and the level of s TSH decreased

with no statistically significant difference（ P > 0. 05）. The thyroid volume and maximum diameter of nodules in the case group decreased significantly compared with those before treatment

and the differences were statistically significant（ P < 0. 05）. The levels of IL-1β and TNF-α in the case group were higher than those in the control group before treatment

yet the difference was not statistically significant（ P > 0. 05）; the level of IL-6 was significantly lower than that in the control group

and the difference was statistically significant（ P < 0. 05）. After treatment of 90 d

the levels of IL-1β and TNF-α in the case group were significantly higher than those before treatment

and the differences were statistically significant（ P < 0. 05）.After treatment of 180 d

the levels of IL-1β and TNF-α in the case group slightly decreased

with no statistically significant difference compared with those after treatment of 90 d（ P > 0. 05）

which were still significantly higher than those of the control group

with statistically significant difference（ P < 0. 05）. The level of IL-6 in the case group increased after treatment of 90 d

but there was no statistically significant difference compared with before treatment（ P >0. 05）

it had risen to the normal range after treatment of 180 d

and compared with after treatment of 90 d and before treatment

the difference was statistically significant（ P < 0. 05）

and the difference was not statistically significant compared with the control group（ P > 0. 05）. CONCLUSIONS: Huoxue Sanjie prescricption may play a therapeutic role by moderately increasing the serum levels of IL-1β

IL-6 and TNF-α in patients with nodular goiter.
