OBJECTIVE: To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of Pudilan Xiaoyan oral liquid in the treatment of hand
foot and mouth disease in children
so as to provide evidence-based reference for clinic application.METHODS: CNKI
CBM
VIP database
Wanfang database
PubMed and the Cochrane Library were retrieved to collect the randomized controlled trials( RCT) of Pudilan Xiaoyan oral liquid in the treatment of hand
foot and mouth disease in children [the study group was treated with Pudilan Xiaoyan oral liquid combined with conventional antiviral drugs in Western medicine
and the control group received conventional antiviral drugs in Western medicine alone; the outcome indicators include efficacy( total effective rate of clinical treatment
duration of fever
disappearance time of herpes and ulcer) and safety( adverse drug reactions).Clinical data that met the inclusion criteria were extracted
and the quality was evaluated in accordance with Cochrane Handbook 5.1.0.RevMan 5.3 was used for Meta-analysis.RESULTS: Totally 20 literature were collected
including 2 182 patients.Meta-analysis results showed that the total effective rate( RR = 1.18
95%CI = 1.14-1.22
P < 0.001)
the duration of fever( MD =-1.39
95% CI =-1.61--1.16
P<0.001)
disappearance time of herpes( MD =-1.91
95%CI =-2.20--1.63
P<0.001) and disappearance time of ulcer( MD =-1.45
95%CI =-1.69--1.21
P<0.001) in the study group were significantly better than those in the control group
the differences were statistically significant. The incidence of adverse drug reactions was similar between two groups
with no statistically significant difference( RR = 1.14
95% CI = 0.69-1.88
P > 0.001).CONCLUSIONS: Pudilan Xiaoyan oral liquid combined with conventional antiviral drugs in Western medicine can improve the efficacy of children with hand
foot and mouth disease
and does not increase the incidence of adverse drug reactions
yet it still needs to be further verified by the large sample and high-quality randomized controlled study.
