OBJECTIVE: To systematically evaluate the efficacy of Biejiajian pills combined with entecavir in the treatment of hepatitis B cirrhosis based on Meta-analysis. METHODS: Seven Chinese and foreign databases were retrieved to collect the clinical randomized controlled trials of Biejiajian pills combined with entecavir in the treatment of hepatitis B cirrhosis( the combination group was treated with Biejiajian pills combined with entecavir
while the control group received entecavir). Meta-analysis was performed by using Rev Man 5. 3 software to evaluate the risk of bias and to analyze the efficacy of drug combination. RESULTS: Totally 9 literature were collected
including 768 patients. Meta-analysis was conducted on related liver function and liver fibrosis indicators. When the course of treatment was less than 6 months
compared with entecavir alone
Biejiajian pills combined with entecavir can significantly reduce the levels of alanine aminotransferase( ALT) and total bilirubin( TBIL) in patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis
the differences were statistically significant( P<0. 05); however
there was no significant difference in the effects of two regimens in regulating the levels of aspartate aminotransferase( AST)( P > 0. 05). When the course of treatment was 12 months
compared with entecavir alone
Biejiajian pills combined with entecavir could significantly reduce the levels of AST and TBIL
and there were statistically significant differences( P<0. 05); however
there was no statistically significant difference in the effects of two regimens in regulating the levels of ALT( P > 0. 05). There was no significant difference in the effects of two regimens in regulating the levels of albumin( P>0. 05). Meanwhile
Biejiajian pills combined with entecavir treatment could also significantly reduce the levels of liver fibrosis indicators such as hyaluronic acid
hyaluronidase
laminin
type Ⅲ procollagen and type Ⅳ collagen
which were different from those treated with entecavir alone( P < 0. 05). CONCLUSIONS: Compared with entecavir alone
the efficacy of Biejiajian pills combined with entecavir is more significant in the treatment of hepatic B cirrhosis.
