OBJECTIVE: To probe into the effects of Shenmai injection on myocardial function and immune function in patients with postoperative chemotherapy of breast cancer. METHODS: Totally 110 patients with breast cancer admitted into the Seventh People’s Hospital of Hebei from Jan. 2014 to Nov. 2017 were extracted to be divided into the control group and the observation group via the random number table
with 55 cases in each group. The control group was given the chemotherapy regimen of ifosfamide + epirubicin + fluorouracil
while the observation group was treated with Shenmai injection on the basis of the control group. The traditional Chinese medicine( TCM) symptom score
myocardial function evaluation index [early diastolic/advanced diastolic maximum blood flow velocity( E/A)
left ventricular ejection fraction( LVEF)
serum troponin Ⅰ( cTn Ⅰ)
creatine kinase( CK)
creatine kinase isoenzyme( CK-MB)
total superoxide dismutase( SOD)
malondialdehyde( MDA) and reduced glutathione( GSH) ]levels
immune function evaluation indicators [immunoglobulin G( IgG)
complements C3 and C4]
levels and lymphocyte subsets( CD3
+
CD4
+
and CD8
+
) of two groups were observed. RESULTS: After surgery
there were no significant difference in the TCM symptom score
myocardial function evaluation index
immune function evaluation index and lymphocyte subsets between two groups( P
>
0. 05). One week after chemotherapy
the TCM symptom score of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group
with statistically significant difference( P
<
0. 05). One week after chemotherapy
the levels of E/A and LVEF in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group
the levels of serum cTnⅠ
CK
CK-MB and MDA in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group
and the differences were statistically significant( P
<
0. 05).One week after chemotherapy
the levels of serum IgG
C3 and C4 in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group
and the differences were statistically significant( P
<
0. 05). One week after chemotherapy
the levels of CD3+
CD4+and CD4+/CD8+in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group
the level of CD8+was significantly lower than that in the control group
the differences were statistically significant( P
<
0. 05). CONCLUSIONS: Shenmai injection can reduce the toxic and side effects of existing chemotherapy regimens by improving myocardial injury and enhancing immunity in patients.
