OBJECTIVE: To probe into the influencing factors of compliance with inhaled preparations in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease( COPD)
so as to improve patients’ compliance. METHODS: COPD patients who received inhaled preparations admitted into the Second People’s Hospital of Changzhou from Jan. to May2018 were selected
self-made questionnaire survey on medication compliance and telephone follow-up after discharge were conducted
the influencing factors of compliance with inhaled preparations were analyzed. RESULTS: A total of30 COPD patients were involved
of which 63. 3%( 19 cases) with good compliance
36. 7%( 11 cases) with poor compliance. The course of disease
patients’ awareness of own disease
awareness of the importance of correct use of inhaled preparations for own disease
the difference in symptom scores before and after the application of inhaled preparations were the important factors affecting compliance with COPD patients( P<0. 05); device operation mistake or improper method
lack of awareness of own disease and the importance of inhaled preparations
patients consider inhaled preparations to be ineffective
slow effect or expensive were the reasons caused poor compliance of COPD patients. CONCLUSIONS: Poor compliance with inhaled preparations in COPD patients related to many factors
especially the long course of disease
misunderstanding of COPD and ignoring the importance of long-term application of inhaled preparations. It is recommended that clinical pharmacists adopt more comprehensive medication education programs and more professional pharmaceutical services to improve patients’ medication compliance.
