OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical application and its trends of acid suppressants in the Affiliated Nanchuan People’s Hospital of Chongqing Medical University（ hereinafter referred to as "this hospital"）

so as to provide references for clinical rational medication and standardized management. METHODS: Retrospective analysis was adopted to analyze the application of acid suppressant in this hospital during 2016-2018 in terms of consumption sum

defined daily dose system（ DDDs）

defined daily cost（ DDC） and sequence of consumption sum（ B）/sequence of DDDs（ A）. RESULTS: During 2016-2018

the consumption sums of acid suppressants in this hospital decreased by years; the consumption sum of proton pump inhibitor took a large proportion

of which the consumption sums of lansoprazole for injection

omeprazole sodium for injection

pantoprazole sodium for injection and esomeprazole sodium for injection took the top 4 positions; the DDDs of Omeprazole enteric-coated capsule ranked the first; Omeprazole magnesium enteric-coated tablets was introduced to this hospital in 2018

which ranked the second in DDDs sequence;the sequence of Rabeprazole sodium enteric-coated tablets ranked by DDDs had risen from the 9 th in 2016 to the 2 nd in 2017

and ranked the 3 rd in 2018; the top 3 drugs ranked by DDC were respectively esmeprazole sodium for injection

omeprazole sodium for injection（ AstraZeneca Pharmaceutical Co.

Ltd） and lansoprazole for injection; the B/A of ranitidine hydrochloride injection

cimetidine injection and Esmeprazole magnesium enteric-coated tablets（ 40 mg） were close to 1. 0

which indicated that they had better synchronism in social and economic benefits.CONCLUSIONS: The consumption sum of acid suppressants in this hospital continues to decrease

especially in 2018;however

the supervision on rational application of proton pump inhibitors and the overall pharmacoeconomic evaluation on acid suppressants still needs to be strengthened in the future

so as to ensure rational medication.
