Objective: To assess the repetitive use of Chinese patent medicines in pediatrics of our hospital and identify economically effective methods of drug selection
so as to provide references for the management of Chinese patent medicines in pediatrics. Methods: Modified repetitive medication scoring table was used to score 215 patients in our hospital
and all patients were divided into five groups based on the scores. Ineligible prescription determination method was applied to evaluate each group of cases
the scoring group with the optimal incremental cost/ effectiveness ratio was screened. Results: Among the 215 pediatric patients with Chinese patent medicines
infants and young children (from 0 to 2 years) at 67. 4% took the lead. The percentage of repetitive medication was 12. 6%
and cases with repetitive medication score of 2 points had the smallest incremental cost/ effectiveness ratio (-0. 003
5). Conclusion: Cases with score of 2 points in the repetitive medication evaluation achieve the best effectiveness in terms of cost per unit of Chinese patent medicines.
