Objective: To probe into the efficacy and safety of 1.5 times regular dose of loratadine combined with transfer factor oral solution in the treatment of chronic refractory urticaria in children. Methods: Totally 60 children with chronic refractory urticaria were randomly divided into two groups
with 30 cases in each group. The experimental group was treated with 1.5 times regular dose of loratadine combined with oral transfer factor
while the control group received 1.5 times regular dose of loratadine. Efficacy was determined by symptom score for the pruritus
maximum wind mass diameter
number of wind masses
degree of edema
and duration of onset. The adverse drug reactions of two groups were recorded. Results: After 3 and 4 weeks of treatment
the total effective rate of the experimental group was respectively 90.00% and 93.33%
significantly higher than those of the control group (53.33% and 60.00%)
with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in adverse drug reactions between two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: The combination of 1.5 times regular dose of loratadine with transfer factor oral solution is safe and effective in the treatment of chronic refractory urticaria in children.
