Objective:To investigate the value of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) detection in the prognosis of neonatal hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy(HIE).Methods:The venous blood samples of 73 HIE children were acquired on the day of hospital admission.The immune turbidimetric method was used for detecting hs-CRP.The HIE children were treated routinely
and were followed up for 1 year.Results:The hs-CRP levels were(3.7±1.8) mg/L
(6.1±2.4) mg/L and(8.5±2.7) mg/L respectively in the three groups.The more severe the disease was
the higher the hs-CRP levels(F=6.225
P=0.017)were.A total of 11 patients died(15.1%)
and the hs-CRP levels in dead children were higher than those of the surviving children(t=3.364
P=0.001).The logistic regression showed that hs-CRP was an independent risk factor for the survival of HIE(P=0.025
OR=1.107).Hs-CRP had a good predictive value for the death of HIE patients(AUC=0.717
95% CI=0.664~0.856).When the cutoff value was 7.5 mg/L
it had a especially high predictive value.The specificity was 0.864
and the sensitivity was 0.911.In the 12th month
28 HIE children had poor neurological prognosis
and the other 34 HIE children had good prognosis.The hs-CRP levels of poor prognosis children were higher than those of good prognosis children(t=4.817
P=0.000).Conclusion:High sensitivity C-reactive protein has a good ability for the assessment of the mortality of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy as well as the long-term behavioral nerve prognosis.
