Objective:To investigate the effects of pain management training on sleep state in patients with ankylosing spondylitis.Methods:60 patients with ankylosing spondylitis(AS)were divided into two groups(experimental group and control group)
with 30 patients in each group.Experimental group were selected for pain management training
such as function gymnastics
pain management techniques(as recommended by National ankylosing spondylitis society).Control group received common nursing.Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)and pain severity scale were used for measuring sleep state and pain degree in two groups one month after the discharge from hospital. Results:One month after the discharge
pain scores in the experimental and control groups were 58.20±12.56 and 65.20±22.24
respectively
there being significant difference between them(P<0.05).Sleep scores in the experimental and control groups were 10.30±1.49 and 12.63±1.92
respectivley
there being significant difference between them(P<0.01).There were significant difference in pain and sleep scores on admission and discharge in the experimental group(P<0.05).There was significant positive relationship between sleep score and pain score(r=0.651
P<0.01).Conclusion:Pain management training could relieve pain and improve sleep state in patients with ankylosing spondylitis efficiently.
