Objective:To investigate the diagnosis and treatment of severe hand

foot and mouth disease(Hand

Foot and Mouth Disease

HFMD).Methods:According to clinical manifestations and complications

268 HFMD patients were divided into severe case group and critical case group

and then the clinical manifestations

illness dynamic changes

auxiliary examinations

treatments and prognoses were retrospectively analyzed.Results:Among the 268 severe HFMD infection patients

159 were male patients(59.3%)

and 109 were female patients(40.7%).The age of patient was from 5 months to 10 years old.Among them

younger than 3 years old patients were 231 cases(86.2%)with an average age of 2.9 years old.In severe case group

complications in neurological system as main behavior were in 232 patients(86.6%)

who were alive

and EV71 positive was in 135(58.2%)patients;In critical case group

multiple organ damages in nervous

circulatory

and respiratory system were in 36 cases(13.4%)

and 24 cases(8.95%)died

including 20 cases died within 24 h hospitalization

and EV71 positive was in 28 cases.Conclusion:HFMD severe critical type progresses fast

and with high mortality rate.An early discovery and correct treatment is the key to successful rescue.
