Objective:To elucidate the expression of CD44 splice variant V6(CD44V6)
P-glycoprotein(P-gp) and Topoisomerase Ⅱ(Top-Ⅱ) in CRC and their clinical significance. Methods: Hematoxylin-Eosine method was used to verify colorectal cancer and normal mucosa tissue.Immunohistochemistry was used to examine CD44V6
P-gp and Top-Ⅱ expressions in 80 colorectal carcinoma tissues and 46 normal intestinal tissues. The relationship of CD44V6
P-gp and Top-Ⅱexpressions with sex
Dukes staging
tumor invasion and lymph nodes metastasis was statistically analyzed. Results: The expressions of CD44V6
P-gp
Top-Ⅱ in CRC were higher than those in normal tissues. The expression of CD44V6 was positively related to the Dukes staging(rs =0.328
P<0.05)
tumor invasion(rs =0.356
P< 0.01) and lymph node metastasis(rs =0.406
P<0.01)
but not to sex.The expression of P-gp was not related to sex
Dukes staging
tumor invasion or lymph node metastasis. The expression of Top-Ⅱ was not related to sex
Dukes staging
or degree of invasion
but related to the degree of lymph node metastasis(rs =0.245
P<0.05).Conclusion:P-gp
Top-Ⅱ and CD44V6 are highly expressed in CRC.CD44V6 is positively related to the Dukes staging
