Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of external fixator on aged intertrochanteric fractures.Method: A total of 32 cases with aged intertrochanteric fracture were treated with the external fixator.According to the Evans classification
there were 9 cases with typeⅠ
6 cases with type Ⅱ
8 cases with type Ⅲ and 9 cases with type Ⅳ.The evaluation criteria of Dong Jiyuan were employed to evaluate the postoperative curative effect. Results: The postoperative curative effect in 32 cases was evaluated according to the evaluation criteria of Dong Jiyuan
follow-up averaged 15 months
and the results were as follows: excellent in 23 cases;good in 5 cases;fair in 3 cases;and poor in 1 case. The excellent rate was 87.5%.Conclusion: External fixation for the treatment of aged intertrochanteric fractures has certain advantages such as rigid fixation
less trauma
and fewer complications
which is conducive to early functional recovery and a good surgical manner for the treatment of aged intertrochanteric fractures.
