Objective:To analyze heart rate variability(HRV) and the incidence of ventricular arrhythmia in essential hypertension patients with morning blood pressure surge(MBPS).Methods:A total of 50 consecutive essential hypertension patients with morning blood pressure surge and 50 age-and gender-matched subjects with essential hypertension(control group) were enrolled in the present study at our institution from June 2009 to May 2010.The parameters of heart rate variability and the incidence of ventricular arrhythmia in every time-span were observed though 24 hours holter monitoring electrocardiogram. Results:The parameters of HRV(SDNN

PNN50) in MBPS group were significantly lower than control group. The incidence of ventricular arrhythmia for 24 hours in MBPS group was obviously higher than that in control group. Conclusion:Autonomic nerve dysfunction is more obviously occurred in essential hypertension patients with MBPS and the occurrence of ventricular arrhythmias is also significantly increased.
