Objective:To discuss the possibility of MRI evaluation of pituitary adenomas consistency and its significance. Methods:All patients received surgery and pathological examination. In 97 cases
71 cases were sof(tnonfibrous)
14 cases were moderate
12 cases were firm (fibrous).In 97 cases
Preoperative MRI was performed in all cases
Tumor/Pons signal intensity ratio (TPSIR)was measured in T 2 WI.Results:In three groups
T 2 WI Tumor/Pons signal intensity ratio (TPSIR)was 1.681±0.069
1.344±0.082
0.981±0.060;there was significant difference between three groups (P<0.01).The difference was prominent(P<0.01).Conclusion:Preoperative MRI T 2 WI can predict the consistency of pituitary adenomas
which is veryimportant for choice ofsurgical approach and prognosis.
