Objective:To evaluate the outcome of using remote sub-leaf posterior interosseous artery forearm flap for coverage of soft tissue defects in the dorsal hand and finger. Methods:According to the size and site of the defects and the pivoting point
the flap was designed and based on the arterial axis
A total of 16 cases of soft tissue defects were treated with this flap.4 cases were repaired through mergency Operation while 12 cases through delayed operation. Results:Postoperatively 15 flaps survived perfectly
Extravasated blood swelling appeared in 1 flap because of more stringent of pedicle suture.Primary healing of the wound achieved in all cases. At 3 months to 4 years follow-up
the appearance of the flaps was good. Conclusion:Posterior interosseous artery flap of the forearm is the treatment of choice for repairing soft tissue defects of the dorsal hand and finger because of its advantages.
