Objective:To provide a new way for the management of children with dilated cardiomyopathy(DCM)
by observing the expression of Toll-like receptor 4(TLR4)in peripheral blood monocytes in children with DCM
and exploring the role of TLR4 in children with DCM.Methods:Expression of TLR4 in peripheral blood monocytes from 17 controls
and 18 children with DCMwas compared with the use of flow cytometry. Results:The mean fluorescence intensity(MFI)of TLR4 in peripheral blood monocytes was significantly higher in children with DCMcompared to controls((34.67±7.61)vs(22.62±4.28)
P<0.01).Moreover
the MFI levels were correlated with the severity of heart failure
and the MFI of DCMwith functional class Ⅲ/Ⅳheart failure was obviously higherthan that with functional classⅠ/Ⅱ.Negative correlation was observed between TLR4 expression and left ventricular ejection fraction;and positive correlation was observed between TLR4 expression and cardiothoracic ratio.Conclusion:TLR4 is related to the pathogenesis of DCM
