Objective:To explore the clinical feature of duodenal diverticulum and the reason for delayed-diagnosis or misdiagnosis of this disease. Methods:The clinical data of 43 duodenal diverticulum patients admitted to our hospital between 1998.9 to 2008.9 were reviewed retrospectively. Results:All 43 patients were not considered to have duodenal diverticulum when admitted to hospital
The preliminanry diagnosis was common digestive tract disease.Final diagnosis was established only after the examination of barium meal
duodenoscopy
or ERCP examination.32 patients received non-operative treatment.6 received diverticulum remaining and duodenal bypass operation.1 received diverticulectomy.2 received inverting suture
and 2 received Oddi’s spincterplasty. The therapeutic effects were excellent in all patients. Conclusion:The duodenal diverticulum was not in clinic and the absence of vigilance in doctors lead to delayed-diagnosis or misdiagnosis of this disease frequently.Medical treatment can relieve or cure the complaints of most duodenal diverticulum patients.Operation is the best choice for patiences with indolent symptom or serious complication.
