Analysis of the periodontal assessment of PFM crowns after electrotome gingivoplasty[J]. Journal of Chongqing Medical University, 2005,(6):910-911. DOI: 10.13406/j.cnki.cyxb.2005.06.040.
Objective; To analyze the effects of electrotome gingivoplasty on periodontal health of the abutment teeth repaired by using porcelain -fused -to -metal (PFM) crowns after electrotome gingivoplasty. Methods: The information of 135 teeth from 91 patients was collected. Before these teeth were repaired with PFM crowns
electrotome gingivoplasty had been operated. One year after repair
the periodontal health was assessed and the effects of gingivoplasty on gingival index (GI)
plaque index (PLI)
probing depth (PD) and teeth mobility were analyzed. Results; After one year
the gingive of 5. 9% cases developed recession or hyperplasia. The GI increased and showed significant difference between pre - and post - restoration
however
the PLJ
PD and teeth mobility showed no significant differences. Conclusion; Electrotome gingivoplasty have no negative effects on periodontal health of the abutment teeth with PFM crowns.
