Objective:To explore the changes in rabbit endothelin-1 induced by alcoholism.Methods:24 rabbits were chosen and divided into two groups randomly. In experimental group wine containing 50% of alcohol at dosage of 8mL/(kg·d) was given
and the same dose of NS for controls by pouring into stomach with a plastic tube for 6 months and to observe the changes of ET-1
superoxide dismutase(SOD)
malondialdehyde(MDA) in plasma in 1-6 months.Results:In 1-3 months
the content of ET-1 and MDA did not change significantly (P>0.05)
but it increased gradually in 4~6 months (at 4 month P<0.05
at 5
6monthP<0.01).The content of ET-1 in the experimental group was positively correlated to MDA(r=0.64
P<0.01).The activity of SOD did not change remarkably in 1~2 month(P>0.05)
but it decreased gradually in 3~6 month(3
4month P<0.05
5、6month P<0.01).The content of ET-1 in the experimental group was negatively correlated to the activity of SOD (r=-0.24
P<0.05).Conclusion:Long-term excessive intake of wine increase oxygen-derived free radicals and ET-1
and lead to injury of endothelium of blood vessel
which may play a key role in the process of pathogenesis in alcoholism.
