Objective: To evaluate in vitro chemosensitivity of laryngeal carcinoma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma to eight kinds of antineoplastic drugs by AgNOR technique. Methods: Fresh specimens of 56 cases were obtained from laryngeal carcinoma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. We severed tumor tissue with simple mechanical separation method. After the acting of drugs
cell smear and argyrophilic staining
the mean inhibiting rate was calculated.10 cases were treated with chemotherapy at the same time. Results: 51 cases′specimens succeeded in the experiments
and the rate of success was 91.1%.The changes of mean inhibiting rate was from 0 to 63%.The chemosensitivity to DDP was the highest in eight kinds of antineoplastic drugs.Secondly
VCR
5-FU
and PYM were the highest. The sensitivity to drugs in laryngeal carcinoma was significantly higher than nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The coincidence between the experiment and clinic was 80%. Conclusion: AgNOR method is simple and convenient. In addition
it has clear correlation with the results of therapy. The method is useful for chemotherapy.
