Objective: To investigate the long-term clinical results of the wristdrop in cerebral palsy with muscle release of the origin of the flexors of the forearm. Methods : Six cases were treated with muscle release of the origin of the flexors of the forearm since 1976. There were two women and four men with an average of 21 of age. They had had this disease from 5 years to 24 years before the operation(average 18 years). Results:The function of most wrists obviously improved for three to ten years follow-up (average 5.7 months). There were 67% effective rate and there was no complication. Conclusion: It is satisfactory to treat with muscle release of the origin of the flexors of the forearm for the wristdrop in cerebral palsy. It is important to select appropriate cases
release entirely contracture muscle and manage strictly after the operation.
