Objective To investigate the change in serum levels of E - selectin
interleukin - 10
tumor necrosis factor α
soluble CD14
as well as their relationship to infection during the pathophysiologic process in postoperative patients complicating severe infection. Methods Serum E - selectin
interleukin - 10
soluble CD14 and tumor necrosis factor a levels in 37 postoperative patients were observed by ELISA on the day before operation
and 1st
2nd
3rd
4th
14th and 25th days respectively after operation. Results :There were changes of high levels of E -selectin
interleukin - 10
soluble CD14 and tumor necrosis factor a in postoperative patients complicating systemic infection. The correlation coefficients in the serum levels of E - selectin and interleukin - 10
soluble CD14 and tumor necrosis factor- α were r = 0.963
P<0. 05
r 0.896
P<0. 05
respectively. Conclusion It is suggested that soluble CD14 and tumor necrosis factor a may play an important role during early process of infection
which may be closely related with the occurrence of infection. E - selectin and interleukin - 10
late cellular factors
play important roles in the mechanism of pathogenesis and might be closely related to severe degree of secendary infection during late pathophysiologic process of infection. Increased serum concentration of soluble CD14
tumor necrosis factor a
E - selectin and interleukin - 10 were good prognostic markers on postoperative patients complicating severe infection.
