Objective:Portal hypertensive animal model was prepa red by partial portal-vein ligation in Wistar rats. Adaptive condition of preparation of animal model was researched. Methods:Partial portal-vein li gation was made with various types of blunt-tip needles. Results:P ortal hypertension had not yielded on the fifth post-operation day in sham-operation
gauge 18 and gauge 20 groups.Portal pressure had increased in the two groups of gauge 14 and gauge 16. In the gauge 14 group
the rats had expressed anepithymia
loss of body weight
ascites formation and died one by one.Portal pressure had increased significantly in the gauge 16 group in 0.5 post-operative hour and formed stable portal hypertension in 72 post-operative hour. Conclusion:The size of gauge 16 blund-tip needle fits well in the preparation of portal hypertensive animal model in Wistar rats by partial portal-vein ligation. The preparation of the model is successful and all rats are alive as well. The post-operative condition is similar to that of sham-operation.
