To explore the operation of vaginal reconstruction with a sigmoid loop. Methods To analyse retrospectively the 25 cases of congenital absence of vagina who have got a vaginal reconstruction with a sigmoid loop from January

1991 to June

1999. Results The 25 cases of operation are all successful

without any bad result. 21 cases have been followed up postoperatively for at least 6 months to 8 years

and the profile and the function of the vagina are as same as the natural. Husband and wife are satisfied with it. Conclusion Vaginal reconstruction with a sigmoid loop is the best operation now for congenital absence of vagina

with a high rate of success and a good long term result.
