:Objective To investigate the value of serum CA50 detection in diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods The levels of serum CA50 in 38 cases with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),43 cases with benign hepatopathy and normal controls were detected and analysed. Results The patients with HCC showed higher level of serum CA50 than benign hepatopathy and normal controls (P<0.05).The sensitivity of CA50 for HCC diagnosis was 57.8%
in combination with AFP detection, the sensitivity increased to 89.4%
higher than 65.7% by simple AFP detection. Conclusion The detection of serum CA50 may be an important index for HCC diagnosis. In combination with AFP detection,we could increase the sensitivity of HCC diagnosis.
