Objective TO study the clinical value of detecting both CEA and CRP in the serum of colorectal carcinoma patients before operaion. Methods CEA and CRP of 297 colorectal carcinoma patients were detected and investigated from pathological stage
tumor site and operation type. Results The total positive rate of detecting both CEA and CRP in the serum was 90.57%
obviously higher than that detecting CEA or CRP seperately. That both CEA and CRP were positive was closely related to the operation type. The positive rate of CRP and the average value of ascending colon cancer were remarkably different with that of descending colonal cancer and rectal cancer. Conclusion It has remarkable practical value of detecting CEA and CRP in colorectal carcinoma patients and they can be supplemented with each other.
