Culture and microscopic examination. were performed on 9 macaques
which proved to be infected with trichopyton gypseum. They were randomly divided into 2 groups for treatment. In Group I
miconazale nitrate was applied on the infected area (n=4). In Group Ⅱ (n =5)
10% liquor formaldehyde was sprayed over the monkey cage
in addition to external application of miconazole nitrate. 14 days after the treatment
the efficacy tale was 75% in Group Ⅰ;In Group Ⅱ
the treatment was 100% efficacious. It was demonstrated that: (1) The combined use of miconazole nitrate and 10% formaldehyde is significantly effective in the treatment of macaque with trichophyton gypseum
(2) Regular sterilization of the monkey cage with 10% liquor formaldehydi is highly effective in the prevention of trichophyton gypseum.
