To eveluate the effct of selenium supplementation on tumor immunity
S180 cells were transplanted subcutaneously into three groups of mice
two of them(Se-Ⅰ
and Se-Ⅱ)have been gavaged with selenium(6μ g/day
or 12μg/day) for 6 weeks. At the 13th day after S180 cells were trsnsplanted
tumor growth and spleen cellular immunity were analyzed. The results showed that tumor growth was inhibited and splenic lymphocyte transformation and CTL activity were enhanced significantly in selenium supplemefltation groups as compared to tumor-bearing control.Significant negative correlation was found between inhibition and enhancement(r=-0.67
P< 0.005).The study suggests that selenium supplementation can inhibit transplantive tumor growth
and that this effect is related to its ability to enhance splenic lymphocyte functions.
