Erythrocyte sodium - lithium countertransport activity and dyslipidemia in type II diabetes mellitus[J]. Journal of Chongqing Medical University, 1999,(4):347-349. DOI: 10.13406/j.cnki.cyxb.1999.04.004.
To investigate the relation between erythrocyte sodium-lithium countertransport activity (SLCA) anddyslipidemia in type II diabetes mellitus
SLCA was measured according to the method described by Fujita in 81type II diabetes and 40 healthy control subjects
and their plasma lipids and insulin-sensitivity index (ISI) wasmeasured also. The results showed that SLCA was significantly higher in type II diabetes (0.361±0.139 mmol/L. RBC / h) than that in healthy control subjects (0.191±0.083 mmol /L. RBC / h ) (P<0.01). A stepwisemultiple regression analysis was conducted using SLCA or ISI as the dependent variable. It was found that SLCAwas negatively correlated with ISI and HDL~2
and was positively correlated with TG; ISI was positivelycorrelated with HDL~2 and was negatively correlated with TG. This study suggested that (1) erythrocyte SLCAwas increased significantly in type II diabetes; (2) erythrocyte SLCA was related to insulin-sensitivity anddyslipidemia in type II diabetes
and the elevation of SLCA can be used as one of the indexes for the evaluationof insulin - sensitivity in type II diabetes mellitus.
