To discuss the effect. indications. contradications of frequency- doubled Nd:YAG laser coagulation and howto avoid photocoagulative complications. Methods: 61 peripheral retinal tears were coagulated withfrequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser. All cases were followed up for durations of 2 to 23 months with an average of16 months. Results: 58 eyes (95.1%) were cured
3 eyes(4.9%) were not. Visual acuity was improved in 25 eyes(41 %)’unchanged in 33 eyes (54.1 %) and deteriorated in 3 eyes (4.9%). 39 eyes (63.9%) healed successfully afterone-time laser coagulation
after two times in 18 eyes (29.5%) and after three times in 1 eye (1.6%). Nocomplications occurred in any patients. None of the cured patients developed retinal detaclunent. Conclusion:Photocoagulation with frequency-doubled Nd:YAG
laser is a safe and effective method for treatttient of retinaltears and prevention of retinal detachment.
