To study posttraumatic function of the brain by analyzing 24h ambulatory EEG(AEEG) is of 227 head injurypatients with normal CT scans.Methods.227 patients who sustained headinjuryand showed no abnormalities in their CT scans were selectedand examined with AEEG within one week of trauma. Results:Among 227cases examined with AEEG
121 cases(53.30%) showed normal AEEGs
while the other 106cases(46.70%) demonstrated abnormalAEEGs. Continuous abnormal brain waves were not found in any of the106patients with abnormal AEEGs
which suggests the importance of 24-hour AEEG. The slow waves appearedfreqeuntly in the waking and closed-eyestate
while some sharp and spik ewaves appeared only in the sleepingstate. The patients who experienced primary Nanningcannltreplace AEEG examination in patients with headinjury.
