The mycobacterial antigen and IgG antibody to purified derivative(PPD)in cerebrospinal fluid of 24patients with tuberculous meningitis and 29 other patients were detected by means of Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)in order to diagnose rapidly tuberculous meningitis(TBM).The sensitivity for the detection of antigen and antibody in CSF was 83.3 %(20/24)and 91.7%(22/24);and the specificity
100%(29/29)and 93.1%(27/29) Conclusion detecting simultaneously mycobacterial antigen and antibody in CSF is better than detecting only antigen or antiboby. It make up for false negative in the detection antigen alone or antibody alone and helps diagnose TBM rapidly.
