Chlamydia trachomatis in genitourinary tract were cultivated and isolated by culturing McCoy cells treated with cycloheximide. Of the 450 cases of cervicitis Or inflammatory diseases
234(52%) positive cultures were detected. 15(50%) positive cultures were detected in 30 cases of urethritis in men. It was suggested that genitourinary infacfions caused by C.trachomatis were common in our country. Of 249 positive cultures
73(29.3%) were detected by the second passage. Cycloheximide optimal concentration in inoculation media was 1-4ng/ml. Inclusion number of the samples centrifugad at 2000g was higher than that of uncentrifuged samples. Cells treated with cycloheximide
cefltrifugation
and a second passage were necessary for cultivation and isolation of the pathogen
