CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF ENZYME-LINKED IMMUNOSORBENT ASSAYS FOR MYEL1N BASIC PROTEIN FRAGMENTT IN CEREBROSP1NAL FLUID[J]. Journal of Chongqing Medical University, 1991,(4):311-314. DOI: 10.13406/j.cnki.cyxb.1991.04.012.
The Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) for Myelin Basic Protein (MBP) fragments (termed as MBP-P1
MBP-P2 and MBP-P3) were developed in present study. The intact MBP and MBP fragments in cerebrospinal fluid were detected in 34 patients-with Multiple Sclerosis(MS)and 30 patients with other neurological disorders ( OND). The results demonstrated that
only MBP-Pl and intact MBP were there being a significant difference between patients with MS and control subjects (p<0.01). The diagnostic sensitivity of MBP-Pl (76%)was higher than that of MBP (62%)
the levels of MBP-Pl was the highest in MS group
and there was close correlation between levels of MBP-P1 and Millar’s score (r = 0.730
p< 0.05). We consider that the MBP-P1 in cerebrospinal fluid is a useful laboratory index of demyelination in MS
