AN ANALYSIS OF 114 PATIENTS WITH NASOPHARYNGEAL CARCINOMA TREATED BY COMBINED CHEMOTHERAPY AND RADIATION THERAPY[J]. Journal of Chongqing Medical University, 1991,(1):46-48. DOI: 10.13406/j.cnki.cyxb.1991.01.013.
Combined chemotherapy and radiation therapy were given to 114 patients with NPC during January 1982-December 1983. Nine
49 and 56 were in stage II
III and IV (The Fifth National Con-gress of NPC
Changsha
1979) respectively. CTX (Cytophospha-mide). 5FU (5-Fluorouracil) and VCR (Vincristine). or CTX and 5FU
CTX and VCR were administrated introvenously before radiation therapy. The radiation therapy was given in two courses with about 3 weeks interval. The 5-year survival rates were 66.7 %(7/9) in stage II
62.8%(34/49) in stage III and 48.8%(31/56) in stage IV (P>0.05). The results shown that CTX
5FU
and VCR were available and suggested that chemo. therapy may be necessary for patients with NPC before relapse or metastasis was detected
