This paper reports the methods and results of intravenous sodium perchlorate discharge test. Intravenous sodium perchlorate discharge test is a more rapid and effective techenique in detecting thyroidal iodide organification defect than the oral potassium perchlorate discharge test. This test is positive in 34 out of 40 (85%) cases of Hachimoto’s disease. Our study showed that intravenous test is more helpful in the evaluation of minor iodide organification defect. The mechanism of this test was briefly discussed
